Ken began his oil career in Kern County in 1962 as an oilfield laborer working for various contractors while continuing his education at Taft College. The bulk of his oilfield training comes from on the job training and experience for the past 50 years.
In 1965, Ken went to work for Getty Oil Company in Taft California as a roustabout. Within three months he was promoted to a gas plant operator, where he worked until late 1966.
In 1966-1967 he was promoted to field electrician in Ventura California and Field Operator and Rig Operator in Taft California.
In 1967, he moved to Alaska to work on contract for Rowan Drilling Company as a roughneck, drilling wells for Standard Oil.
From 1968 to 1970, Ken went to work for Shell Oil in their Off Shore Oil Platform Division as an Operator and Mechanic. At Shell he received numerous training programs on Oilfield Equipment and specialized certification on Solar Gas Turbines.
In 1970, he returned to Taft to start a family business for Oil Well Service and Construction. He successfully serviced contracts for the major oil companies until 1979.
In 1980, Ken sold off his interests in the family Oil Well Service and Construction business and started his own Sole Proprietary Oilfield Contracting Company. This new venture focused on Oilfield Drilling, Well Service, and Construction and the operations grew to over 150 employees.
In addition to building his Company, Ken began to acquire Oil Leases in Kern County. In 1986, Ken sold his Contracting Company to focus on operating his owned leases and production.
For the past 30 years, Ken has successfully, operated nine (9) leases in California and one (1) lease on his Cattle Ranch in Peru, Kansas. Total recoverable reserves on all of the leases are in excess of 21 million barrels.
In May of 2013 Ken formed an LLC registered in the State of Nevada known as KJ Energy Development, LLC. This LLC is licensed to operate in Nevada with plans to start a drilling program.
We currently in negotiations to acquire both oil producing properties and oil drilling prospects in California, Nevada, Oklahoma, Kansas and other areas to own and operate under the name KJ Energy Development, LLC.
In November 2012 Ken formed KB Richardson International Group, LTD a British Virgin Islands Corporation (KBRIG, Ltd). To operate in the world wide market place and to conduct International Trading in Oil, Refined Oil products, and various other products.
